历史溯源

1981年，3月20日晚上，在香港举行的世界杯排球赛亚洲区预选赛要进行中国男排与韩国男排的决赛，胜者将代表亚洲参加在日本东京举办的世界杯排球赛。中国队在先失两局的情况下，以3：2战胜了韩国队。这场胜利使北大校园沸腾，北大学子喊出了“团结起来，振兴中华”的口号。两天后，《人民日报》刊登了北大学生欢呼庆祝中国男排获胜的通讯，大标题“团结起来，振兴中华”的口号格外引人注目。1984届北大毕业生发起捐建了这块碑。

History

On the night of March 20th, 1981, as the Asia qualifying match of Volleyball World Cup, the final match between Chinese men's volleyball team and Korea men's volleyball team was carrying on in Hong Kong, the winner will represent for Asia to attend the Volleyball World Cup which held in Tokyo Japan. After lost first two matches, China team made a amazing turnaround and won the game with a three to two score. The whole Peking university got desperately excited by this victory, and the students yelled out the slogan of "unite and revitalize the Chinese nation". Two days later, People's Daily published the report of students' celebration for the victory in Peking university, the slogan of "unite and revitalize the Chinese nation" attracted a lot of attention. The 1984 sessions of graduates donated and founded this tablet.
